She is a very private person, so it’s almost impossible to find out what’s going on. I respect her privacy, but hope that she and her family is doing well. I love her books. She has always been very enjoyable.

My fellow workmates and I will keep Ms Braun in our prayers. We all rush out the minute one of her books come out so we can read them. The we sit and discuss them. Hers are books that can be read over and over from the first to the last. I am on mmy 6th time through. I would be lost without new books.

Much as I love Ms Braum’s books her last one was a sad disappointment, I wish her well but hope that no further books are published in her name if they aren’t up to her original entertaining best

I agree–the 60 whiskers story was not up to her standard–the perp is not apprehended and the quick ending where she has Polly Duncan dump Qwill, him get interested too quickly in another, and then quickly has his apple barn house burn down sure seems like a sorry finale for a great series.

We all love Lilian and her “people” – we read them twice a year. Each book is a joy in itself and we love how they flow from one to another – our bookshelf is so empty waiting for number 30
and to hear that she is doing well. Please keep us posted. Thank you very much.

I was saddened to learn ms braun’s latest book has been cancelled by her publisher. I do hope this a temporary set back rather than a sign of something more serious. I’ve been enjoying her work since the late ’80’s and treasure it.

I am saddened to hear about Lillian Jackson Braun’s latest not being published. I will keep her and all involved in my prayers. I’ve read each of the others at least twice. There are few authors who write things you can share with your family and another book would be truly missed. She’s an absolute treasure as are her books. I will be waiting and praying.

I love Lillian jackson Braun’s books and I hope she has more published soon. I pray all is well with her and her family. Her books are a treat and I love each one. I wish more writers would write books in the same type of vein as hers.

I’ve loves all of the cat who books except the last one written it was missing the speial feel of the rest of her books. I hope she is doing well and if she should up to it would greatly enjoy another cat who book of the quality I’ve become used to. If not my blessings this is one of the very best series I’ve ever read.

I used to love the series but suspect she hasn’t been writing these for the last 15 years, because the writing style is completely different from the earlier GOOD books. She’s 97 years old…I believe they may be ghost written now.

That’s something that I haven’t thought of. That’s definitely a possibility. It’s worked for years for the estate of V.C. Andrews.

Ditto on that disappointing book. One book out of so many wonderful years of Cat Who? I’ll get over it. This is the best series ever of all time. I love the character development and everything about them. I love the clean, stress-free stories. I am trying to own each one. Thank you, Mrs. Braun!

I admire the books very much. I have all of them in the Dutch language. although all the books are stories by itself the last book left so many questions. Does Polly come back from France, will they rebuild the barn, are the cats still alive?

Love these books. Still haven’t got through all of them. We have listened to them as audiobooks. I do have many in print, but for the most part we’ve listened as a family especially on car trips. Our kids can listen – imagine that!!

I have enjoyed LJB’s books for 20 years. I have them all. They have become like a comfort food to me. The first one “The Cat Who Could Read Backwards” is very well worn. I’d like to thank Ms Braun for creating such wonderful characters, both human and feline. I will miss new additions, but am happy to keep rereading my well loved collection.

I have read “The Cat Who..” series three times and listened to it once. I love this series. However, the last few books were disjointed and a lot of questions left hanging. There were too many extra tales thrown in as filler. I think the publisher was already trying to find a ghost writer and not succeeding in my opinion. I just finished the third reading. I am stopping at Number 27, “The Cat Who Went Bananas”. I am making up my own ending. I refuse to read “The Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell”. I found it to be completely out of sync with the series. There were a lot of continuity errors. Needless to say it was a real disappointment. I will also post my comments on Goodreads.com if you are interested.

I agree that the last couple were not as satisfying and the last one was quite disappointing. I had chalked it up to LJB’s age & perhaps lack of energy to put the same effort into fully fleshing out a story. It seemed like the ending was fabricated just to wrap it up. Now that it’s been suggested a ghost writer makes more sense because it really didn’t seem like her singular voice. Please update us on Ms. Braun’s situation.

As soon as I hear word, I’ll let you know. Nothing from the publisher or her agent about condition other than book is cancelled.

I have just finished the entire series (again). The short story books were not that entertaining, especially the one that just reprinted the Tall Tales from the books. I agree with all the comments about the apparent dimming of the LJB light, especially in the last book, but I’m not so sure if a ghost writer is the answer. I have a few friends who are extensively published writers and as the days grow short for them, I can see things passing now that would never fly when they were at their peak. I, too, find it difficult to drag out of the corners of my mind the word that exactly describes what I am relaying while knowing that a few short years ago, the words sprang up almost of their own accord. I wish her the best …

Thanks for your response! There are quite a few authors who have died recently that have books in development. Michael Crichton, who died a couple years back, is slated to have a book coming out (according to our library vendor) in 2012. Everytime I get updates, I wonder if it just hasn’t been taken off the list, or if they are really trying to put it together. We shall see.

I’ve loved the “Cat who” books since the 1960’s and now have the entire series, which I just finished reading again. I love Ms. Braun’s style and quirkiness! I’ve been hoping for another book, but maybe that isn’t to be. A Ghost Writer could NOT adequately capture the essence of the life Ms. Braun lived with this ongoing story for 50+ years. My thanks to her for many hours of enjoyment. Maybe it’s fitting that she “burned down the barn”.

I, too, am a long-time fan of Lillian Jackson Braun. Her books are those you can’t put down easily. Several family members and I have read them, exchange and borrow them–they have kept us company on several family trips. I pray our beloved author can continue; no one writes like she does. We thank her sincerely for sharing her creative talents so enjoyably for so long; we wish her health and the best at this time in her life, Our books have become some of those things we pass down to children and grandchilkdren with joy and enthujsiasm! We have been blessed!

I perhaps misunderstood earlier comments re:ghost writers. I assume LJB is still with us, and most likely would not agree to a ghost writer finishing her projects. I did not consider ghost writer in the context of a writer who has passed.
The good news is I just donated my LJB collection (the entire series) to one of our local free libraries and they were ecstatic to receive them. They had a few of the series in paperback and now can have an entire LJB shelf in hardcover.

I am sorry to hear about LBJ. Her well being will be in our prayers. I have her entire series in first edition, first print. It certainly would be great to have one more book that brings us up to date on Qwill, Yum Yum and Koko, as well as to let us know if Polly is still “cooking” in France. I’m sure a good ghost writer could pick up the threads, draw them together and finish the quilt.

I sincerely hope the Mrs. Braun is getting better. Through her books, I consider her a friend. She has brought me so much joy through her books. I have collected almost all of her “Cat Who” books to continue reading far into my old age. My prayers are with you and your family….Thank you for your gift to all of us who love your books.

I have been reading LJBs Cat Who for 20 years. I like to read authors’ books in the order written. I re-read the series over the years while waiting for the next one and have probably read several of the earlier ones 5 or 6 times. My favorite series. Lilian’s passing will leave a big hole in my life and a hole in my heart as well. We are very blessed she wrote as long as she did. What will become of Mr Q, Koko, Yum Yum, and the gang now? I will miss them ALL. They were all my friends!

Silken Prey is an amazing book. Start to finish this is a Sandford masterpiece.
